I think my kid is going through a growth period. He turns three in a few weeks. Lately, he’s clingier and bossier than usual. Yesterday he asked me politely for orange juice. I got it for him, but when I handed him the cup - an Elmo cup - he hollered, “No! I told you! Not that cup!”

I told you?

Firstly, he did not tell me any such thing. Secondly, it’s not like I mixed up medications, it’s just a cup. Thirdly, where did he get that phrase? I don’t go around shouting, “I told you” at people. Not out loud anyways.

I’d like to add that it’s hard to take a bossy person seriously when they’re wearing a Spiderman t-shirt and nothing else. If he’s thinking of a career in tyranny he really needs to put on some pants.
